GLIDER version
The Planeprint Seagull is our second realistic bird model after the popular Eagle. We offer the model in two versions, a pure glider and a version with EDF drive.
The EDF version has the advantage that you do not need a visible propeller and the head of the bird is not visually affected. The air inlets and outlets are very inconspicuous and hardly visible in flight. But one thing must be clear: even the EDF variant is as a glider and not a typical engine model. Do not expect jet-like flight behavior! The EDF is only used to make altitude and reach thermals.
The pure GLIDER version is uncompromisingly designed for lightweight construction (combination of normal PLA (or Tough PLA) and a large proportion of LW-PLA. This results in a very low wingload of only 17 grams/dm2!
Due to the more complex construction of the fuselage in the EDF version, the rear fuselage is built more stable from PLA.
Why we have chosen a Seagull as a model has among other things the reason that the animal has a white plumage. On the one hand, this has the advantage that you do not have to invest much effort in painting and the light surface has significantly fewer problems with the heat in the blazing sun.
Due to the 1500 mm wingspan, the Seagull is a compact and easy to handle aircraft with excellent flight characteristics. The EDF version requires a bit more flying experience.
